Alliance for Education
COMMUNITY-BASED LEARNING STRATEGIC PLAN
After an initial feasibility study identified the Alliance as the best organization to assume a new role in supporting an expanded community-based learning program for
Seattle’s public high schools, the Alliance commissioned a plan to define program goals, funding and staffing.
With only three months to work, we analyzed four complex systems—school-to-work and the role of nonprofit intermediaries, state educational policy, the Seattle School
District’s educational transformation efforts, and the Alliance’s history and culture—and crafted a draft strategic plan for a successful and sustainable new program.
Multifaith Works
2002-07 STRATEGIC PLAN
In its 13th year, and following a period of significant growth, Multifaith Works had big questions about its future focus and program options.
Our analytic approach: development of a detailed needs assessment and peer group survey, a three-year financial review, interviews with two dozen stakeholders, development of a
SWOT assessment and a set of strategic recommendations.
Our Facilitative approach: monthly meetings with the Strategic Planning Committee to discuss meaty issues; and design and facilitation of two retreats with the Committee and
Board to arrive at a focused and energized new plan.
Central Area Development
Association (CADA)
STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLAN
CADA is a community development corporation that plays an important role in Seattle’s Central District, and accomplishes a lot with a small staff. We started by conducting a
strengths/weaknesses/challenges assessment of community needs, CADA’s core competencies, and opportunities for new projects and partnerships.
We then worked with the Board to identify key focus areas and priorities for the next five years, and developed a business planning model to serve as a tool to help the organization
operationalize its goals and evaluate progress along the way.
